World Cup Bid 2018


Nottingham has put together a bid to be a host city in the 2018 World Cup. The application requires an expansion of the ground capacity from the current 30,602 at the City ground to a 40,000 plus seater stadium.

Not having been involved in any consultations the Parish Council understands from the Nottingham Evening Post that the following options are being considered to fulfill this criterion, either

7th September 2009 - We now understand that the option to improve the existing stadium is a non starter but for the present we will offer the three options below for the purposes of this consultation

14th September 2009 - We now understand that the preferred site is not Holme Pierrepont but Gamston between the A52 and Bassingfield

16th October Rushcliffe BC withdraw from Bid Team (The County Council has also with drawn

6th November Final bid to be submitted

The Parish Council would like to hear the views of the residents of the area that would feel the full impact of a 40,000 plus seater stadium on their doorstep. Which is your preferred option?
